The Philadelphia Art Museum is expanding its footprint. By creating a new floor in the basement of the existing building, the museum will be able to feature a new art gallery. With the expansion, the Philadelphia Art Museum will open up to a total of 90,000 square feet of new space to the public, including 23,000 square feet of gallery space. It was Master Locators job to locate a sewer pipe using our concrete scanning services.
How We Did It
Master Locators sent a service technician to the site where he used electromagnetic scanning (EM) for private utility locating. He performed a scan to locate a 12 inch sewer line running through the room. Even though there was a weak signal, Master Locators was able to trace the sewer line and provide an electronic sketch, so the Philadelphia Art Museum could continue its expansion project. It is expected to be completed in Fall 2020, in which there will be a new gallery and the Vaulted Walkway will be restored.
